Dune was created as an experimental oil pastel piece. After a trip to Paris and having the delight of seeing some famous impressionist pieces in person, I wanted to experiment with some wood panel I had on hand.

I wanted to create a piece that used the negative space of the warm wood tones to create the look of oceanside sand dunes, speckled with grass patches between the trails.
